Hiking on the Sporades Islands
Day 1 Friday ...Clock
Arrival at Nea Aghaealos - transfer by bus or taxi to Milina. Price to be confirmed. (About 90 € by taxi up to 4 persons and bus about 15 € p.P.)
1st.Accommodation at MILINA HOLIDAYS Hotel, quiet location with stunning views, double room costs 40 € and the one-bed room costs 35 €, both without breakfast. There is a cafe next door. Cheaper accommodations are available on the site, but everything 08/15.
Day 2 Saturday ....
We go by bus or taxi from Milina (PS: Milina is one of the most beautiful places in the Gulf of Volos, a gorgeous area, right beside the sea. The starting point of the old Pileonhikings... kalderimia) up to 5 Km distance to the village of Argalasti , (price for transfer/fee to go by bus is 3 € p.P.). A magnificent circular walk of about 4.5 hours we find here.The Village of Argalasti remaining in the old style, itself is an attraction, also an interesting museum is well worth seeing. We go back to Milina by bus.
2nd.Accomodation at the same hotel.
Day 3 Sunday ...
Hike from of Milina to Lavkos along a stunning old Kalderimi, time duration about 1.5 hours. From Lavkos we go by bus or taxi (fee about 4 € p.P.) to Promiri, from where we return along an old kalderimi to Kategiorgi (time duration about 2,5 hours). Luggage will be sent by taxi to Kategiorgi (... fee is still open). From the beach tavern of Kategiorgi (about 16.00 clock) we go by boat (Kaiki) to Loutraki, a small port in the north of Skopelos.The fee is about 350 € for the boat (for 12 persons 30 € p.P.).
3rd.Accommodation in the cozy seaside Inn of Dimitris. Double room including breakfast 30 € single room including breakfast. 25 €
Day 4 Monday ...
Hike from Loutraki to Ag. Giannis, location from the movie "Mamma Mia", a famous church on the rock and back to the hotel (about 5 hours on the trail). The trail, an old kalderimi starts right next to our hotel.
4th.Accomadation at the same hotel.
Day 5 Tuesday ...
In the morning we go by bus (fee is € 1.80 p.P.) from Loutraki to Skopelos-Town Hotel Dolphin. Starting at the hotel we go by taxi (fee about 5 € per person), to monastery Ag. Barbara, one of the most lovely monasteries in the Sporades. From Ag. Barbara we walk to Ag. Anna, most gorgeous trail for me in the Sporades, along Moni Sotira (Metamorfosi) and Ag. Marina back to Skopelos-Town. The walk is about 5 hours carrying us on impressive trails with stunning panoramas.
5th.Accomadation at the Hotel Dolphin, very nice hotel, double room with breakfast 45 €, single room with breakfast. 35 €.
Day 6 Wednesday ...
In the morning we go by boat to Alonnisos (price not yet known ,about 25 € p.P.) Charangi-Hotel check-in and walk from the hotel via a Kalderimi up to Chora, the romantic old town of Alonnisos and back down to the sea. Arriving at Megalos Mourtias we cross a beach tavern and continue on a romantic path that leads back to the hotel
6th Accomadation in the quiet seaside Inn Charangi (double room with breakfast € 35, single room with breakfast. 30 €)
Day 7 Thursday ...
Either hike No. 13 by bus or taxi (about 5 € for taxi or 1.80 € for bus p.P.) to Ag. Georgis and from there on the beautiful loop-road (time duration about 5 hours), or by taxi to the water-reservoir and from there about 4 hours continuous round-trip, which takes us two hours through the gorge of the chestnut-river, an adventurous hike, which requires a bit more stamina than the other tours; but traversing this canyon is an unforgettable experience. I myself was totally amazed. We finish going back by taxi (fee is about 5 € per person).
7th. Accomodation in same Hotel
Day 8 Friday ...
In the morning with the Dolphin from Alonnisos back to Skiathos. Price 16,50 € p.P.
